Okay, so I was rereading the Long Walk today

And when I got to the watermelon scene, the biggest onslaught of feels just hit me unexpectedly. Because from when the Walk actually starts to that point, I think that is genuinely the only time any of the Walkers were happy, even just for the briefest second.
